Kastoria is the only city that maintains so well its byzantine and post byzantine character, 72 churches are situated inside the borders of the city. The most famous is the church of Virgin Kastriotissa or Koumbelidiki which was built between 1020-1025 and it is the only church with a dome and the depiction of the Trinity. The Monastery of Mavriotissa was built in the late 11th century. The only church with a wooden roof is St. Athanasius and dates from 1392. Other famous churches are the church of the Three Saints and St. Nicholas Magaleios built in the 14th and 16th century respectively.

During your stay in Kastoria do not forget to visit the Wax Museum of Prehistory and Ethnography located in Mavrochori, the Folklore Delinaneio Museum in Doltso, the Costume Museum where you can see the costumes for adults and children over time and the Byzantine Museum that stands in Xenias hill. Other attractions are the Dragon Cave, the Petrified Forest, the Neolithic Settlement of Dispilio.
