Kythnos is located in the Aegean Sea, between Serifos and Kea and belongs to the western Cyclades archipelago. The island occupies an area of 99.3 km2. Its coastline is 104 km long. The altitude of the highest mountain, Prophet Elias reaches 336 meters above the sea. The population amounts to 1608 inhabitants The capital of the island is Chora, also known as Mesaria.
