Vikos-Aoos National Park is a unique park in Greece with five caves-gulches. Provatina cave-gulch is 407 m deep and it is the second largest in the world.

The wildlife that you will encounter here contains 25 species of reptiles, 130 species of birds, bears, wild boars, deer, wolves, otters and chamois. Flora is also rich with many rare species.

In 1430, when Ottomans took Epirus, Zagori signed a treaty which guaranteed partial autonomy in the region in return for payment of a tax. In this way the villages were safe from the conquerors.
