The long history of the island gives the chance to the visitors to admire important monuments of all times. To the west of Armenistis, in the ruins of the ancient city Nas, there is a sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Artemis, one of the most famous in the ancient times. In the area of Kampos you will find the ruins of Oinoe (meaning wine city), which was the ancient capital of the island. Do not miss to visit the castle of Koskina in the center of the island, built during the Byzantine period and hosting on the inside the church of Agios Georgios Drogana.

For culture lovers, the island offers interesting museum collections exhibited in the Archaeological and Folklore Museum of Agios Kyrikos, in the Archaeological Museum of Kampos and in the Folklore Museum of Perdiki. The most important monasteries are of Panagia in Mounde, the Annunciation Monastery and the unique one of Saint Theoktisti (meaning God built).
