Skyros is the southernmost island of the Northern Sporades. The main feature is the island's landscape changes from typical Sporadic island with lush vegetation at the North to typical Cycladic island with complete absence of vegetation in the southern section. The extent of Skyros is 210 km2 hosting 2,650 residents. The island's capital is Chora (Skyros) and the port is Linaria. Other settlements on the island is Pefkos, Molos, Magazia, Girismata, Kalamitsa, Acherouses and Atsitsa. According to THE Greek mythology, Achilles was hiding on the island in order to avoid his participation in the Trojan War.
