Skopelos is the second largest island of the Sporades archipelago. A lush island, a forest in the middle of the sea.  The Biopolitics International Organisation declared Skopelos as "Green and Blue Island". The island occupies an area of 95 sq. km. Its population reaches the 4,800 people. Apart from the Capital and the Port, other settlements on the island are Glossa, Klima, Elios and Agontas. Agontas is the alternative port that it is used when it is not possible to access the main harbor because of the winds. The ancient name of the island is Peparithos. Skopelos was inhabited since the Neolithic Era.
